When are you open?

We are open during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally only.

What do I need to access the campground?

Every person must purchase a campground wristband.

What's the difference between general camping, RV sites and cabins?

Every person needs a wristband no matter which one you choose. The wristband is what gets you into the campground.

General camping is for tents. If you're pitching a tent and don't need utilities, all you need is a wristband for each person.

RV sites give you full hookups. Every site has 20/30/50 amp electric, water and sewer connections. Sites come in several sizes and price levels depending on what you need.

Dry cabins are also available to rent. Dry means beds, AC, mini fridge and microwave, but no running water or toilet inside. Showers and bathrooms are close by.

If I reserve an RV space, do I need anything else?

Yes. Tent, RV or cabin, every person still needs a wristband. The wristband is what gets everyone into the campground.

Can I reserve a specific camping site?

General tent camping is first come, first served.

Can I reserve a specific RV site?

Yes. All of our RV sites are numbered and reserved when you book. Book early to get the spot you want, or put down a deposit to hold your spot for next year.

What can I put on my RV site?

Typical spots are 25' x 60' or 25' x 75', and you're free to park pretty much anything inside your spot. Everything has to stay within your site boundaries with nothing sticking out or hanging over, because we can't block the roads. Overflow parking for vehicles and trailers is available to purchase if you need it.

What is the max length for RV sites?

Typical RV sites are 60' or 75' long. We can accommodate equipment up to 120' by special request only, subject to limited availability. Call us at 1-866-90-BIKER for more information.

Are loading ramps available?

Yes. Loading ramps are available to load and unload your bike from your pickup.

Can I have visitors at my campsite?

Everyone entering the campground property requires a camp wristband.

Do you allow pets?

Sure, as long as your pet is well mannered, on a leash and doesn't bother other guests. Pets are not allowed in the cabins.

Do you allow children in camp?

We do. Just remember the rally is predominantly adults, and the other campers are not here to worry about offending parents or kids.

Can I have a campfire?

No. Meade County has a permanent open burning ordinance, which means no campfires, bonfires or open fire pits anywhere. Camp stoves and lanterns are fine.

Is there a shuttle to Sturgis?

Yes, and it's free with your camp wristband. Shuttles run nonstop between the Iron Horse Saloon and Steel Pony Campground from 8am to 2am daily.

Is there entertainment at the campground?

Some. The Steel Pony was built for people who want a convenient place to stay with great amenities and a break from the craziness. We have a comfortable bar on site and we'll have some bands and entertainment, but we keep it laid back because that's what most of our guests want. There's always plenty going on at our sister property, the Iron Horse Saloon. When you want to party hard and get loud, we'll shuttle you back and forth.
